The latest episode of SmackDown continued to build the pressure on Roman Reigns. The episode started with General Manager Nick Aldis announcing that a triple threat match on SmackDown’s special New Year’s Revolution will determine Reigns’ next challenger. This was followed by the Aldis and Reigns having a talk backstage that did not end well for the Tribal Chief.

Reigns has always gone with intimidating people around him to keep his influence and power. However, this could be the first time that has backfired.

After announcing the triple threat match between AJ Styles, Randy Orton, and LA Knight for SmackDown’s New Year’s Revolution, Aldis was asked to meet Reigns backstage. This resulted in Reigns trying to show his dominance on Aldis as he did with RAW General Manager Adam Pearce. However, Aldis had a few words for the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.

Aldis said, “I’m the sharp end of the stick on SmackDown now.” Following this, he told Reigns that the match he set up for Solo Sikoa vs. Styles was only because Sikoa beat John Cena in a way that even Reigns could not.

This left Reigns fuming as his plans of asserting dominance did not work. Reigns initially wanted to stop the triple threat match and the match between Solo Sikoa and Styles. He claimed that nothing in the WWE would go through without his approval.

This action of insubordination by Aldis comes as a blow to The Tribal Chief. After having Knight, and Orton coming after him, Reigns now has to deal with Styles.

Orton, Knight, and Styles: Who has the better chance of winning

When talking about who could win the triple-threat match, we need to understand who needs the push. While Orton and Styles have established themselves as well-known stars in the WWE, Knight is over but not yet established. It was disheartening to see him not take place in the United States Championship tournament. His final big match was with Reigns at Crown Jewel.

While fans would love to see Orton or Styles win the Universal Championship, it would only be useful if they were having their last round in the WWE. Knight has a long way to go and a Universal Championship win would benefit greatly for his longevity.
