Many young WWE fans had their hearts broken on the latest episode of Friday Night SmackDown. Popular Tag Team, The New Day, was split up!

Just when Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston made their long-awaited return and won their titles back, and it looked like the new SmackDown Tag-team Champions were ready for a reunion, they met their bitter end.

While Big E was drafted to SmackDown, Kofi and Woods were drafted to Raw. This means that their team has been split indefinitely. The looks of shock on their faces were priceless.

However, there was a deep-rooted reason why WWE split up this crowd-favorite tag-team.

Big E, the powerhouse of New Day, has been restrained by his relations to the team. For those that remember, Big E was a beast back in his NXT days. His name was heard in fear, and everyone knew things were going down when he stepped in the ring.

Now, we just can’t take him seriously when he enters as part of the New Day. The very friendly gimmick never really suited the character of the New Day member, even though he pulled it off well.

WWE plans to give Big E a huge push and possibly a title run

WWE wants to give him a big push, which is why he has been given solo-run space. Big E was given a chance at going solo ever since New Day lost the tag team titles. He proved himself over and over again.

This is the main reason why WWE wants to try him as a singles star. Big E is much more suited for the role of an anti-hero or heel rather than a babyface. Giving him a solo run is something overdue for his character.

We can also expect Kofi and Xavier Woods to continue as the New Day on Raw. This would be most likely since the two may not have solo paths mapped out for them.

It could also be the beginning of the speculated Tag Team title unification. WWE may have plans to merge the Raw and SmackDown tag team Championships for the men’s division. This would create a much better Tag team division as a whole.

We are set to see the best of Big E. The behemoth has the backing of fans and Vince McMahon himself. There’s really nothing more one could ask for.
