“So Much Baggage” – CM Punk Shares the Reason He Didn’t Go Back to WWE

CM Punk and WWE was a failed marriage in the wrestling world. Punk left WWE as he felt despondent about the creative decisions. After the split, WWE never really got CM Punk back into the company. The feelings were mutual for Punk, as the Voice of the Voiceless always held a grudge about the treatment he received during his stint.

CM Punk recently made headlines when he made his comeback to the wrestling industry. The Best in the World made his AEW debut at Chicago in what turned out to be one of the most epic moments in the wrestling industry.

Fans went wayward when they heard Cult of Personality play in the arena and were very vocal throughout the whole segment. This gesture from the fans made Punk very emotional as he shed tears in the middle of the ring.

CM Punk sat with The New York Post as he spoke about his return to wrestling and more in the interview. Punk made it very clear why he never considered returning to WWE, pointing out the old baggage between them. Punk added- “I’m not sure it was ever really an option to go back there. There was so much history there, so much baggage.”

Punk making a tremendous impact at AEW

AEW has had great reach since the debut of CM Punk. The brand has earned over 20% new viewers for their AEW Dynamite, and AEW Rampage shows. The credit must go to the former WWE superstar, as he is still one of the most popular wrestlers in the industry. AEW has hit the right spot here and has got a great opportunity to seal its position as the best place to be right now for wrestling fans.

CM Punk will make his in-ring debut against Darby Allin at All Out. Fans are impatient to watch the former WWE Champion lock horns with one of the most promising talents of the AEW roster. Punk has admitted during his debut promo that the prospect of facing some of the finest young talents in the wrestling world was a significant pull for him to choose AEW as the next chapter in his life.
