Hulk Hogan, the once face of pro wrestling and the biggest pro wrestling star on the planet, has often been riddled with controversies. Stories about his past in the business paint him as a bad person rather than the hero many fans grew up watching thought he was. A new story from a WCW TV director sheds light on his behavior backstage.
Hogan created massive waves by joining WCW after his WWE success. However, he wasn’t all rainbows and sunshine when away from the public eye. According to one TV director, he had a mean streak behind the scenes.

Hulk Hogan was a “sociopath,” according to Dan Bynum
Hogan is regarded as one of the greatest wrestlers in the WWE, with a massive legacy. While being a hero for young kids, the Hulkster gained worldwide popularity at the peak of his fame. Unfortunately, not all spoke good things about him back then, nor do they do it now.

While on ‘The Insiders’, former WCW TV director Dan Bynum talked about his time in the company. He was also asked why he departed from the company in 1995. Bynum pointed the blame directly at Hogan and said he was the issue. He recounted an incident with Hogan while shooting a promo to back up what he was saying.
He began talking about the first time he met Hogan and his feelings. “He’s a narcissist-personality-disordered sociopath and a terrible person,” he said. He also mentioned that he lost his love for wrestling, thanks to Hogan. Once he set the stage for how he felt about Hogan, he narrated a story about his shoot with Hogan.

According to Bynum, he was shooting a promo with Hogan and Jimmy Hart being interviewed by Jim Ross. During the shoot, when the shot went on Ross and Hart, Bynum remembered, “Somebody’s screaming, ‘Cut! Cut! Cut!” He went to say that it was Hogan who was furious.
He went up to Bynum and scolded him for taking the camera off him.
Bynum’s disdain for Hogan after the first shoot
Hogan ended his rant on Bynum by saying that he should never take the camera off him or his arms which he called his ‘pythons.’ This, for Bynum, was the worst moment of his professional career in the WCW. He even took a moment to talk about Hogan’s approach to wrestling while in WCW. He claimed that Hogan wanted to be a heel. Compared to his babyface run in the WWE, WCW saw Hogan as the best heel of his career as Hollywood Hogan.

However, Bynum’s rant did not end here. He criticized Hogan’s unwillingness to put over babyfaces or new talent. According to Bynum, Hogan wanted all the top stars to be heels or risk losing to him. Despite talking mainly about Hogan, Bynum also mentioned that the business’s morality play is another reason he quit.
