Dwayne Johnson is one of the biggest stars. Besides his star power, he has successfully mastered the art of imparting his influence in every sphere. His social media time and time again has proved to be a powerful medium for him to share important messages. Besides his persona, anyone in the world can easily recognize his voice.

A shady company took advantage of this fact and used it to promote a Ponzi scheme.

The actual Dwayne Johnson is not giving away free money. But the A.I. generated voice which plays alongside an advertisement does. According to the advertisement, the State government is distributing “Health Spending Cards” to thousands of American citizens. The cardholder could receive a sum of around $5000 monthly, which an individual can use to spend on their healthcare.

The thing that stands out the most is how the audio doesn’t sync properly with the video. In the clip, some old videos of Dwayne Johnson are mashed up with other spliced videos of people and money. As the tone of the 51-year-old star remains the same throughout, it is interesting to note that the volume keeps on fluctuating to show that the star himself is recording the video.

This created mayhem which gave birth to scammers pretending to be pro wrestling celebrities. Due to this, Adam Pearce had to issue a public apology.

In August 2023, Adam Pearce, who is a former pro wrestler and director of live events at WWE, took to X (former Twitter) to spread awareness that he wasn’t asking for money from anyone. Becky Lynch and Alexa Bliss issued a similar statement. With great influential power comes a substantial risk of being roped into scams.
