His hold over the wrestling world was much stronger than any wrestler to come after him. It is the sole reason that Hogan has amassed such a huge following, especially among the old people who watched him wrestle day in and day out.

Even after many fallouts with the company, Hogan’s image in WWE has always been and always will be that of a legend. He has made many people fall in love with wrestling, but that could only happen because of one moment. This moment was when the Hulkster got an opportunity to star in a movie alongside Sylvester Stallone.

When asked about the rise of his character, Hulk Hogan said, “Once I hit on the right character, the Hulk Hogan character, everything fit in place. Also, in this business, there was no larger-than-life good guy at this time. I just finished the Rocky III movie, which gave me an amount of spin. It made people aware of who I was and this was a wrestler.”

“At the time, Stallone was 7 ft tall or 70 ft tall in the public’s eye. When they saw me standing next to Stallone, it immediately made people aware who’s that other guy. People became aware of who I was and what wrestling was if they didn’t know. It became addictive because instantly every single night the buildings were sold out. The character of Hulk Hogan, which had a big positive message of training, basically had a role model status attached to him,” Hogan said in 2013.

While he may have fizzled out in recent years, Hogan might still make a huge comeback. Just like his friend, Ric Flair, who just had his last match (and is looking for another match), Hogan could go out with a bang if the cards are right. Although it is improbable, we would love it if it happened in WWE and against a big-shot wrestler like Seth Rollins or Roman Reigns at a big event as well.
