Cody Rhodes’ return to WWE might not have gone well for several AEW fans. The WWE superstar had a key role in the rise of AEW.

Rhodes served as the Executive Vice President in AEW. He had been there right from the first day. Thus, the departure of Cody Rhodes from AEW and his return to WWE surprised the fans.

Recently, during an episode of WWE After The Bell with Corey Graves, the former AEW superstar revealed his reaction to the fans burning his old AEW shirts.

The WWE superstar said, “It was unique to see people burning my old AEW shirts, which were a trend for a few days on social. It felt like you were kind of leaving a sports team. It didn’t break my heart.”

“I thought it was odd because the place doesn’t exist without me. There are other people that needed to be there for it to exist for sure. But I am one of the people that place exists because of AEW exists, partially because of me,” he added.

After almost six long years, Cody Rhodes returned to WWE. He is of course no stranger to the WWE Universe.

Cody Rhodes is now one of the biggest stars in professional wrestling. And he received a hero’s welcome from the fans present at the AT&T Stadium in Texas on Night One of WrestleMania 38.

As soon as Rhodes got revealed as Seth Rollins‘ mystery opponent, the crowd went absolutely berserk. The former AEW superstar got one of the loudest cheers at this year’s WrestleMania.
