Like every other nerve wreaking thing, botches make a part of wrestling no matter if you like it or not. Most of the time, failure to pull off a scripted move doesn’t do any harm. Although, occasionally it turns out serious when some mistakes in routine moves culminate in injuries. Also, in some cases, it makes the audiences laugh out loud, something that happened when Dolph Ziggler awkwardly tried to save an entire Elimination Chamber match in 2015. However, there were a few monumental ones too that fans keep revisiting for decades. One belonging to this group was John Cena and Dave Batista’s crazy Royal Rumble finish in 2005.

John Cena and Batista are both two legendary figures of pro wrestling belonging to the ruthless aggression era with decades of decorative in-ring records. The two had a standout on-screen chemistry. In fact, they had a very parallel rise to the top. It was just that WWE chose Cena as the face of the franchise over Batista. That said, both stars once got eliminated during a highly controversial ending to the Royal Rumble 2005 match.

It was indeed a hell of a match. The original finish to the match was pretty easy to interpret. After some initial punching, Batista would land a Batista Bomb and send Cena over to the top rope, which was nothing sort of unexpected or bizarre to the typical wrestling fans. But during the Batista Bomb, Big Dave fell out of his balance. He went flying backward and tumbled over the top rope with Cena still over his head.

Although it didn’t result in any injury, the timing culminated for an epic moment. They both hit the floor at the same time. It was insane in all senses. It amazed fans to see a 1V1 of the greatest superstars. Except for Vince getting injured, this was an exceptional finish. But, to a former WWE personality, it was a bit scary too.

John Cena’s Iconic Rival Reveals Major News Regarding His Hall of Fame Induction

Going down the memory lane of the phenomenal match, former WWE manager Bruce Prichard noted, ”Thank God at least they both landed at the same time. That was good not planned but yes that, that was crazy and before we knew it somebody said hit my music and they were gone and the rest, as they say, is history but uh no that was a little scary.”

Moving ahead, despite sharing the ring with Cena numerous times, including the aforementioned iconic segment, Batista didn’t seem to be interested in sharing the big screen with the Leader of The Cenation at all.

Batista once declined the idea of sharing the screen with Cena

Not only do Cena and Batista’s wrestling careers resemble each other, but the two WWE heavyweights earned instant massive recognition in Holywood, too. Thanks to their already-established star power and mic skill. Although Batista is comparatively new to the field of acting than his fellow wrestling counterparts like The Rock and John Cena, he absolutely hates people drawing any comparison between them.

Back in 2021, there were wide rumors of Cena and Batista doing a movie together. Addressing that speculation, in an utterly straightforward response, The Animal noted, “Nah I’m good!!”

However, later via a tweet, he made it clear that his comment was nothing sort of personal.

Nevertheless, they don’t have any chance to butt heads in the squared circle, as Batista already put an end to his WWE career for good. Cena is also on the verge of following in his footsteps as he reaches the twilight of his wrestling career. Wrestling fans will remain hopeful that they can see the two decorated wrestlers share screen space in a movie in the future.
