“That’s Disrespect” – Steve Austin Believes Hulk Hogan Disrespected Randy Savage at WCW in 1996

Wrestlers give it their all when they are in the ring. Even if a wrestler loses, he or she wants to lose with dignity. However, if things don’t go according to plan, it creates an air of animosity between the two competitors. One such backstage rivalry was between Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage.

‘Big Daddy Cool’ Kevin Nash appeared in a recent episode of “Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Sessions.” During the interview, Austin pointed out that Hogan disrespected Savage by practically not putting any weight over Savage’s body for the pinfall. He said,

“I was watching this with my guys before the show,” Austin said. “I said, ‘Hey, man, that’s disrespect. Am I right? Tell me about the cover. For some people, they don’t get this, but when you make a cover in that position it’s almost like, ‘Dude, you’re supposed to be here, and here I am with a little something extra.’ Am I right? Because I was watching with my guys.”

In the interview, Austin was talking about the infamous segment where Hulk Hogan betrayed WCW for Kevin Nash and Scott Hall. The segment happened at the WCW Bash at the Beach in 1996.

Hogan was the top guy and babyface at the time. But he turned heel when he hit Savage with three leg drops. Hogan followed it up with a pretend pinfall, which Scott Hall counted.

Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage’s strained relation

Both former tag team members of the Mega Powers stable weren’t on good terms for a long time. This was due to the fact the ‘Macho Man’ found out that his ex-wife, Elizabeth, allegedly had been staying over at Hulk’s house. However, after years passed, both men buried the hatchet and neglected old rivalries.

In a surprising turn of events, it was Hulk Hogan who inducted Savage into the WWE Hall of Fame for the class of 2015.
