The wrestling heroics of Hulk Hogan are well documented. What gets talked about very less is his portrayal of the villainous Thunderlips character in the 1982 movie Rocky III. The appearance of The Hulkster in the popular franchise preceded all his major accolades in the wrestling world.

He once reminisced about his late mother while discussing the iconic character he played in the film all those years back. Hogan opened up about one unusual ritual followed by his female parent. And that went for anyone who entered his humble abode.

Hulk Hogan reminiscing about his mother

The Immortal One was commenting on a life-sized figure of Thunderlips when he recalled his mom. He explained the difference in heights between his real self and the statue.

Hogan said, “The funny thing is I’m 6’ 4.5” and I used to be 6’7”. You come to my house before my mother died the first thing she’d do is wanna know your name, give you a hug, and then she measured you. Everybody that came to my house got measured.”

“When I was 27 years old she measured me and I was 6 ft 7”. And then before she died a few years ago she measured me I was 6’ 4.5” and after all the surgeries, the 2 Knees and 9 back surgeries yeah. Both knees. Both hips. But yeah I was 6’ 7’’ so he’s not far off(Thunderlips figure), that’s spot on”. Said the 6-time WWE champion.

Undoubtedly, the years of rigor in the squared circle have taken a big toll on Hogan’s body. Nevertheless, it would be heart-melting for the fans to know that the former nWO member’s mama still measured him after all those years. He may be a part of wrestling royalty in the fan’s eyes but was the same Terry Bollea for her.

Diehard Hulkamaniacs are aware that their beloved Hogan was part of the music band Ruckus in the 70s. He was a bass player for the band which performed in the Florida region. Mr. America’s obsession with professional wrestling began with him getting spotted by the legendary brothers’ Jack and Gerald Brisco.

They saw huge potential in him due to his impressive physique, even back then. Hogan’s mother Ruth Bollea wasn’t of the idea initially that he could crack it in the world of sports entertainment.

Hogan’s mother was not sure about his wrestling career

Hogan sold all his music equipment in the quest to become a performer in the ring. This was too much to take for his mother back then. As she believed he was kidding and wasn’t serious. However, little did she know that Hogan would be turning out to be one of the most recognizable names in the history of the industry. Bollea could be forgiven for thinking so as not many could have foreseen The Hulkster’s meteoric rise.

Hulk Hogan is a once-in-a-lifetime wrestler to have graced the wrestling world. Not only did he dazzle in the business for years but made his fans proud of his appearance in the movie Rocky III.
