CM Punk has been a fan favorite even after years of his retirement from in-ring competition. As fans wait for his “return” to the ring, Punk never fully discloses his intentions.
However, in a recent podcast with former WWE employee Renee Pacquette, Punk might have revealed his return details. Although it might not happen in WWE, the “best in the world” spoke about his possibilities in New Japan.
He revealed how he never wanted to be in WWE from the beginning, “Oh, there’s this huge part of me that never wanted — the goal wasn’t to be a WWE superstar. I was content with wrestling in Japan. But Japan was a lot different when I went over there, and I got told by [Shinya] Hashimoto, as he was paying me, ‘You, good worker. Too big for a cruiserweight, too small for heavyweight’ and I was like, ‘That sucks.”

After years, that might have changed. Punk reveals, “But yeah, things are different now, and I do think there are guys in New Japan. I think [Kazuchika] Okada, and even saying that I haven’t seen a lot of his stuff. I apologize profusely, Okada-san. One of these days, maybe I’ll get around to it. Maybe I’m gonna get on the treadmill, and I’ll watch some of your stuff right now. I just sound like the old guy who doesn’t f*cking know what’s going on.”
CM Punk is ‘open’ to new things
CM Punk has been watching WWE. He thinks Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre are nice but not “spicy.”
“The way that I’m interpreting it is that you are open to, perhaps, a line of communication,” Renee said.
CM Punk clarified, “it’s like Lorenzo (Fertitta) and Dana (White) being like, ‘ Hey do you ever wanna do this?’ and me going, ‘what!’. That didn’t mean I’d put gloves on and jump in the f*cking cage that instant. It was a process.”

“Not that I’m looking for a job, but I want to do a s*it ton of acting,” Punk concluded.

After he departed from WWE in 2014, Punk has wrestled briefly in UFC and independent promotions. He came back to WWE programming last year with WWE Backstage on Fox Network with Renee. However, that program, too, was suspended.
