Johnson and Winfrey recently announced that they have set up an online relief fund to help the victims of Maui wildfires. The People’s Fund of Maui aims to provide $1,200 on a monthly basis to all the Maui residents who lost their homes to wildfire in Hawaii.

People’s Fund of Maui will put “money directly in the pockets of those who were affected by the recent wildfires.” Johnson stated they were having a hard time trusting other organizations regarding this issue, so they took matters into their own hands. However, fans have not been very appreciative of this noble cause.

Fans expose celebrities’ hypocrisy

When this news went viral on the internet, people began criticizing the two celebrities. They lambasted them for asking for money from middle-class families despite having a collective fortune in excess of three billion. People are questioning their intentions on social media.

Winfrey, who owns over 2,000 acres in Maui, and Johnson, who comes from a Samoan lineage, have already donated a sum of 10 million dollars to their relief fund. But fans are upset that despite having a worth of $2.5 billion and $800 million respectively, Winfrey and Johnson have only donated a negligible amount to aid the wildfire victims.
