Romance is one of the most legendary angles in WWE, having delivered many iconic storylines in the past. However, all romantic angles aren’t scripted, and very often, they mirror real life. One such situation was the story of John Cena and Nikki Bella.
The duo started dating in 2012, and they engaged in 2017. Unfortunately, Cena and Bella called off their engagement in April 2018, shocking the WWE Universe. Nikki Bella took to social media to announce the unfortunate news to their fans.
While there could be various reasons for their break-up, Nikki Bella particularly pinned down on one topic. She knew John Cena didn’t want to have children following their marriage, and she did.

However, she initially accepted his decision to not have children. In fact, Cena did change his mind later and was ready to have children for her happiness. Nevertheless, Bella knew she didn’t want to force Cena into doing anything he didn’t want to.
“Overall, we did have such an incredible relationship. It was just two people that wanted two different lives but were trying so hard to make it one.
“Even in the end when he was willing to give me kids, I could just tell, it’s not what he wanted. And that’s really, like, you know, what pushed me in the end, I was like, ‘Am I’m going to force someone to be a father?’
“I remember thinking, ‘It’s not what I want. I don’t want to force someone to change if that’s not what they want to do.”
Even though it was a devastating moment for them and their fans, the duo has moved past this experience and has settled down in life.
John Cena and Nikki Bella have moved on
Currently, Nikki Bella is with acclaimed dancer Artem Chigvintsev, with the duo getting engaged in 2019. The couple welcomed their first child, Matteo Artemovich Chigvintsev, on July 31st, 2020.
