In addition, The Rock and Steve Austin closed the main event at WrestleMania 15 and 17. However, WrestleMania 19 marked the retirement of Stone Cold Steve Austin from the WWE.

The Texas Rattlesnake was forced to retire from in-ring competition because of an injury caused by Owen Hart in 1997. At SummerSlam 1997, ‘The Rocket’ Owen Hart hit Steve Austin with a sit-out Tombstone Piledriver.

“I whispered to him, ‘I Thank you so much for everything that you’ve done for me.’ And I said, ‘I love you.’ He said, ‘I love you too.’ I hit him on the chest, and I left him in the ring,” The Rock said during an Instagram Q&A.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson defeated Austin after three Rock Bottoms in front of 55,000 people. This was an emotional moment for The Rock, and he leaned toward Austin and thanked him. Even though the duo has had the most significant rivalry inside the ring, The Rock showed true sportsmanship.

When The Great One and Stone Cold battled at WrestleMania 17, they were babyface (good guy). However, Steve Austin won that match with the help of Vince McMahon. This ultimately made The Texas Rattlesnake a heel (bad guy) as he shook hands with the WWE owner.

The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin showed a stellar performance at WrestleMania 17. The trilogy of their feud came to full circle at WrestleMania 19 when, finally, The Great One emerged victorious over Austin.
