When Taker was out with a groin injury, he had a chance to re-invent his character. As a result, Taker returned as ‘The American Badass’ who was a motorcycle-riding, tobacco-chewing and smack-talking character. Also, he changed his fighting style by adding some quick punches like street fighters.

‘The Phenom’ survived successfully for four years with the gimmick change. Although the base gimmick was of The Deadman, he revived the old character with a slight twist at WrestleMania 20. He eternalized The Deadman throughout his career.
