Renee Paquette had an immensely successful career as a talk show host in WWE. She was the first official female commentator in the main roster and got multiple talk shows. However, fans often wondered why she never wrestled in the company.
After she left the company a few months back, Renee now goes by her real name, Renee Paquette. She recently appeared on the “Getting Over” podcast, where she weighed in on her non-wrestling role in WWE.
Renee believes WWE never wanted to lose Young as an announcer/commentator. She was open to everything.

“So, I was always down to do something. Anything, whether it’s a storyline, whether it involves physicality. I played sports. I was such a tomboy growing up, I wasn’t like a fragile little thing. Like, I will get in there and get dirty and get scraped up, I’m not afraid of that.
“The way that I see it anyway, I think with the success I was able to have with WWE as just a broadcaster and as a personality, I think that the higher-ups in WWE valued what I brought to the table. They were afraid of tarnishing that by letting me get involved in the storylines and not be taken so seriously, or to be made the butt-end of a joke or something,” Paquette concluded.
Previously WWE has made announcers like Michael Cole, Jim Ross, and Jerry Lawler wrestle, but they were mostly negatively received by fans and critics alike.
Renee Paquette got physical once in her career
In 2017, Renee and her real-life husband, Dean Ambrose (now Jon Moxley), were involved in a feud between another real-life couple, Miz and Maryse.
Renee slapped Miz when he spoke of Ambrose in a degrading manner. For vengeance, Maryse even slapped Young on one occasion. She had every opportunity to fight back, but didn’t.
