For nearly a year, fans have been waiting for Cody Rhodes to start feuding with The Tribal Chief again. This is because the entire fanbase believes that a rematch would end up with The American Nightmare cleanly winning Reigns’ title. However, an interesting turn of events saw The Rock calling out his Samoan cousin on the 01/01 episode of Monday Night Raw.

Until now, this possible matchup between Johnson and Reigns was speculation, but reports from Sports Illustrated suggest that this has a high chance of taking place. Rhodes then would have to find another rival for WM this year. According to the same report, Seth Rollins and CM Punk won’t be wrestling against each other at Mania either.

This would leave CM Punk open for a feud against Cody Rhodes, which is also currently being developed through promos in the red brand. So, this would mean that neither will Rhodes headline the biggest PLE of the year nor will he ‘complete his story’ at the event.

This caught several fans off guard. As a result, Twitter was flooded with fans who were frustrated about the decision.

Fans fire back at ideas of choosing Dwayne Johnson instead of Cody Rhodes

Coming across this report on ‘X’, fans replied furiously. Not only did most of them deny believing the new reports about a possibly altered WrestleMania lineup, but some were even speculating that this could be a trick played by the Stamford-based company to confuse its fans. This is because Cody Rhodes’ story would be too predictable otherwise.

A similar thought process can be seen through Jason Solomon’s tweet as he calls out these reports for ‘throwing’ people ‘off the scent’.

Another fan believes that this trick is carried out to confuse the audience.

An internet user is denying the possibility by calling out the reports.
