WWE is arguably one of the biggest wrestling promotions of all time. Over the years, it has registered itself as one of the most well-known sports entertainment organizations and has entertained fans for several years. However, until a few years ago, WWE was one of the only popular wrestling promotions.

Unfortunately for WWE, several other wrestling promotions have opened up recently, which have started acting as a barrier to WWE’s way toward success. One of the immediate names that comes to mind is AEW. Tony Khan’s AEW is one of the arch-rivals of WWE. And, recently, it was able to beat Vince McMahon‘s brain-child.

At the recent 2022 WON (Wrestling Observer Newsletter) awards, WWE failed to leave a mark behind. It failed to stand out under several categories, and most of the categories were won by AEW.

However, WWE was able to secure one very infamous win, which was hard for them to celebrate. WWE won 2022’s worst wrestling promotion of the year and stood behind companies such as NWA, CYN, and GCW, to name a few.

It was indeed an embarrassing moment for WWE to rank such low and behind other competitors. Going through the list, WWE is placed behind several small-scale independent wrestling promotions as well. Fans of WWE were left heart-broken and decided to react and defend their favorite company on the web. Not only were the fans demoralized at WWE’s loss, but they did not spare Tony Khan of AEW as well.
