WWE has been going through notable rapid changes ever since its acquisition at the hands of Endeavor. Now, fans of the promotion may see another big change in their schedule as SmackDown could undergo a shift. Popular industry insider, Dave Meltzer, broke this particular news.

Is WWE SmackDown to shift from Friday?

Because of the tradition, the blue brand’s name is well glued to Friday of any given week. This makes it easier for the promotion to keep the fans occupied with their shows. If the Stamford-based company has a PLE, they usually hold it on Saturdays, so fans can follow SmackDown, the PLE, and then Monday Night Raw after the weekend. But now, WWE’s schedule could change because it has to be a team player for ‘TKO’ to function smoothly.

According to Dave Meltzer, “The concept they said they’re looking at was WWE on Friday, UFC on Saturday, and WWE on Monday for the package.” If this happens, then WWE would either have to move their PLEs to Sunday or shift SmackDown to some other day in the week. This move could come to fruition because PLEs earn them more money than any of the weekly shows. “I mean if they’re going to get big site fees, they’re not going to want TV tapings, they’re gonna want pay-per-views out of that,” added Meltzer.

This isn’t the only time that a possible shift in SmackDown is mentioned. In fact, Endeavor’s CEO has previously shown interest in the same during a press conference.

What is Endeavor’s inclination toward the same?

Ari Emanuel believes that WWE as a brand is flexible. This idea of his portrayed itself even during the ‘Bloomberg Screentime Conference’. During the conference, reports came out on Emanuel’s wish to change SmackDown’s schedule in the week.

Emanuel confidently mentioned that since WWE is airing 52 weeks a year, they would be flexible in shifting their weekly schedules to some other day. “You want us Thursday night? You want us Tuesday night? I don’t have any of those scheduling issues, said the CEO of Endeavor during the conference.

This happened almost a month ago and we haven’t seen any changes since. However, the new reports only add up to the possibility of the big change that we may get to see soon.
