The first aspiration a wrestler who joins WWE has is to become a champion. The second is holding on to that championship with their dear life for the longest time. And a few wrestling heavyweights have succeeded in achieving that goal for a fairly suitable length of time. Like Becky Lynch holds the record for the longest reign as WWE Women’s Champion with 560 days. Similarly, Roman Reigns is the longest reigning WWE Champion since 1988 with 1078 days.

But recently one Champion climbed to 2nd position on the all-time list of longest reigning Intercontinental Champions.

Recently Gunther eclipsed another milestone by becoming the 2nd longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion with 427 days. This in itself is a great feat, as only 3 other men in the history of the WWE have been able to hold on to the title for more than 400 days. One of them is Hall Of Famer ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage.

And now he is just 26 days away from becoming the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion ever in the history of the WWE. The only man standing in his way is wrestling great Honky Tonk Man who held the title for 453 days. Only time will tell if Gunther can achieve this feat, or maybe Chad Gable could cause the biggest upset in recent times.
