Mustafa Ali has had a rough spell in WWE for a long time. His luck was expected to change when he made his surprise appearance on NXT on May 30. Ali vowed to go after then-NXT North American Champion Wes Lee’s winning streak. However, Wes Lee suffered a loss to Dominik before Ali could even get to him. At The Great American Bash, Ali failed to capture the NXT North American Championship. As a result, a dejected Ali revealed on the most recent episode of NXT that he has been disrespected for the past six years.

Earlier this year, Ali was rumored to finally receive his push from Triple H. In fact, he won the Battle Royal in May to earn a shot at Gunther’s Intercontinental Championship. But Ali did not have the wherewithal to dethrone Gunther at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia. Recounting how unfairly he has been treated over the years, Ali revealed that he feels disrespected.

During the fallout edition of NXT after the Great American Bash, Axiom bumped into Dominik Mysterio backstage in the parking lot. He told Dominik that he was a parasite bleeding off his father’s blood, sweat, and tears. At some point during the segment, Ali came up to Dominik and said that he needed to talk to him.

This infuriated Axiom, who went off on Ali for interrupting him. Subsequently, Mustafa Ali turned around and found out that Dominik and Rhea had left. Axion then warned Ali not to disrespect him again. A dispirited Ali then said, “Oh, Axiom feels disrespected… Try being disrespected for 6 years!”

Ali’s woes worsened after losing the Triple-Threat match at the Great American Bash. Although the 37-year-old put up a fight, he came up short in the end. During the closing moments of the match, Ali delivered a 450 splash on Wes Lee.

It seemed as though he had the match won as he went for the pin. However, Rhea Ripley pulled him from underneath the bottom rope, allowing Dominik to steal the win. There’s a lot of truth to Ali’s statement, as he was recently told to “get a life” by Brock Lesnar

Nevertheless, Ali recently revealed that his loss against Gunther in Saudi Arabia affected him negatively.

Mustafa Ali was very disappointed at his loss to Gunther

While speaking with the host, Ali said, “I’m very disappointed in the result.” He continued, “Obviously, I thought if there was ever a time to defeat GUNTHER, it would have been there.” Let’s admit that there were moments in the match that made the crowd believe that Ali would be the one to dethrone The Ring General. However, toward the end, Gunther decimated Ali with an impactful power bomb to retain his championship.

We will have to wait and see if Ali gets another shot at Dirty Dom’s NXT North American Championship.
