Former member of The Bloodline, Sami Zayn is one of the top babyfaces in WWE. Zayn’s performance in the last year or so has given him stardom where he was pitted as one of the favorites to win Royal Rumble 2024.

He has been working tirelessly for the last 3 years without missing an event. He has also entertained us with his funny and entertaining segments with Brock Lesnar and as the Honorary Uce. A few months ago we even saw him wrestle with a bursa sac injury on his right elbow. But recent reports suggest that he may be taking time off from WWE.

Sports journalist Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer on December 8th that popular WWE Superstar Sami Zayn is expected to take some time off from wrestling. Meltzer wrote, “I don’t have it confirmed Zayn will be off for a while due to that, but do know that he had asked for time off recently and was granted it but wasn’t told when that would begin.”

Meltzer’s statement comes as an update after The Scottish Warrior Drew McIntyre attacked the Canadian star mercilessly. The attack resulted in a kayfabe injury to Zayn which is one of the most common methods in WWE to write someone off TV.

However, Meltzer provides the update that it was Zayn who requested WWE for time off and was granted it. Though he did not confirm when it will begin, a recent segment suggests it might be from this week.

Meltzer further stated, “It looked like they were doing an injury angle with McIntyre and Zayn when McIntyre stomped on Zayn’s bad knee.” The moment in reference is from Monday Night RAW when Sami Zayn faced Drew McIntyre.

Sami Zayn to miss Royal Rumble and live show at Quebec?

Meltzer further reports, “He [Sami Zayn] was not scheduled for 12/28 show in Laval, Quebec that would normally be built around him as that was during the scheduled break although it is possible they could have him do that show.

WWE will have a live show on 28th December, Thursday at Laval, Quebec, which is also the hometown of Sami Zayn. As per Meltzer, Zayn asked for time off and was granted leave by WWE management despite WWE having a live show in his hometown. It was expected to be based around Zayn as he gets massive pops from the crowd of his hometown. Though Zayn will be on a scheduled break, he may make a special appearance for fans in his hometown. But nothing can be said about his Royal Rumble appearance.
