Post-WrestleMania XL, Triple H has hyped Cody Rhodes as the catalyst for change. Rhodes is the champ to lead the way, ushering in a new era for the global phenomenon that is the WWE. However, a recent move by the Head of Creative has left fans wondering if something is going on between the two. This notion emerged over Rhodes’ AEW tenure. Does Hunter still feel some ill will towards The American Nightmare for smashing his throne?

While Triple H isn’t one to shy away from some hard questions, it is rare to see him not acknowledge AEW. While Tony Khan has fired shots at the WWE in the past, Hunter always found a way to hit back. Be it on social media or a snide remark during a media scrum. However, recently, while on a call on X that also had Cody Rhodes, Triple H left the moment AEW was brought up. While this could be taken out of context, and his abrupt exit could’ve been because of something substantial, the fans were intrigued.

The speculation went to the fact that Hunter never felt AEW to be a serious threat. The comments also brought up Tony Khan’s recent comment on the WWE. Khan had said, “WWE is our competitor. That’s who we’re facing. AEW is like the Pepsi of pro wrestling. WWE is like the Harvey Weinstein of pro wrestling.” This line drew a ton of criticism from the fans and wrestling critics. It is easy to understand why Hunter dipped from the call once AEW’s name was brought up. Nevertheless, keeping promotional rivalries aside, is everything good between Rhodes and Hunter?

Especially when the WWE Universal champion had previously shown his disdain towards WWE and Triple H with a drastic action. Cody Rhodes had smashed the throne that was a trademark in the entrance of HHH during an AEW PPV. The infamous incident sent shockwaves amidst the pro wrestling realm. However, The Game’s reaction was widely drastic from that of the enraged fans.

Naturally, when hearing something like a beef between Cody Rhodes and HHH, fans would remember when the former AEW star smashed Hunter’s throne during a show. This generated a ton of buzz during AEW Double or Nothing in 2019. However, it turns out that Hunter found it funny. The Game said, “You know, people make that stuff out to be so much more than it is to me. If I was in his shoes, I would’ve done the same thing.”

While everything between Rhodes and Triple H seems smooth, the ever-changing nature of the WWE can be unpredictable. What are your thoughts on why The Game left the chat? Do you think it’s a work? Or a shoot? Tell us in the comments.
