It has been almost a month since Undertaker retired at Survivor Series 2020. In the run up to the infamous moment, the WWE put out immense amounts of content, all relating to the Deadman. The final piece of footage that was to be uploaded was the WWE The Day Of: Survivor Series 2020. Triple H gave an emotional statement about the Deadman’s retirement.

Amongst a list of legends that spoke about the Deadman in that video, Triple H’s words stood out for a particular reason. Hunter noted that Undertaker is at peace with the choice he made. Retiring is a difficult step for a person, let alone a superstar with millions of fans.
“A little surreal to see him say, you know that final goodbye. I’ve sort of been with him on this kind of path over the last few years. But, what makes me happy today is seeing he’s at peace with it, I feel like he’s contented with it. Just deserves and has earned the right to go out the way he wants to go out.”
Triple H was one of the many legends that appeared on television before Undertaker announced his retirement. Along with him were Taker’s most iconic rivals: Shawn Michaels, Mick Foley, Kane, Shane McMahon, Kevin Nash, Ric Flair and many more.

Storytelling is one of the key aspects of putting together a wrestling match. No pair of wrestlers showcased the power of storytelling better than the Undertaker and Triple H. The duo faced off in three WrestleMania matches, each better than the previous one. They also faced off multiple times on Raw, SmackDown and other PPVs.
The match which held the greatest stakes was the Hell in a Cell match at WrestleMania 28. However, we need to explain the events of the previous year’s show to better grasp the importance of the Hell in a Cell match.
At WrestleMania 27, Triple H and Undertaker faced off in a match, the likes of which no one had ever seen before. The spamming of finisher moves is not appreciated anymore, but at the Georgia Dome, fans ate up every nearfall that came.
Steel chairs, steel steps, announcer’s tables and even Michael Cole’s infamous ‘Cole Mine’ were all destroyed during the hellacious match.

The match reached an elite level once Undertaker managed to kick out of Undertaker’s deadly Tombstone Piledriver. With no other resort left to him, Triple H brought out his trusted sledgehammer, only to find himself tapping out to the Hell’s Gate. Undertaker won the battle but was too broken to leave the ring on his own feet.
This led to the rematch at WrestleMania 28. Taker topped the previous year’s nearfall by kicking out of a Sweet Chin Music/Pedigree combination. In the end, it was Taker who drove Hunter’s skull into the mat with an ‘era ending’ Tombstone.
