From the first Women’s Dusty Cup Final match to the NXT Championship main event – NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day was truly an all you can eat buffet! Triple H interacted with media following the event and answered several questions, including the comparatively short Women’s Championship match.

Triple H on why the NXT Women’s Championship match was short

Jim Varsallone of the Miami Herald asked Triple H why the Women’s Triple Threat match was short compared to the rest of the matches.

Triple H said, “First of all, a spectacular performance by all three. As far as the time goes, they had all the time they wanted. They had a window that was much bigger than that. I think bell to bell they went somewhere to the neighborhood of 12-13 (minutes).

“I think it was laid out at 20 (minutes) just as a window, but they had what they wanted. There were few things in there that didn’t go exactly how they had planned it. Tables breaking, things happening beyond people’s control that made them go the different direction.”

The NXT Head Honcho backed all three women in the match and noted they can’t make everyone happy. He believed all three women delivered big time.

Triple H’s reaction to the table botch

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful also asked ‘The Game’ a similar question. He asked about his reaction to the botched table spot during the Women’s Triple Threat and how they recovered despite the odd setback.

The 14-time World Champion backed up his talent and believed they did an excellent job picking the match from there spontaneously. He said, “All three of them are pros. They didn’t miss a beat, they went right on!

“Funny thing that stuff happens. You know, you’ve got to be able to roll the punches, and they did it. They did it seamlessly, and I thought they worked tremendously. They had a great match,” he continued.

“The best performers are always the ones that can do things on the fly and just roll with the stuff. If something does go eerie, for some people it would be really hard to adjust, and they did it seamlessly. So my hats off to them!” said Triple H.

The ‘King of Kings‘ also said he felt terrible when the table botch happened but was completely helpless. He said some things are just out of hands, and they could’ve rebuilt the table if it was possible.

Either way, all three women, especially Io Shirai, picked up the match effortlessly. Not just that, but Wade Barrett also tried to make sense of the table breaking.

He said the table had become weak after the intense clash on the outside between Grizzled Young Veterans and MSK earlier.

Honestly, the match wasn’t as short as people are saying it was. It only felt short compared to the other matches that crossed the 20-minute mark. Shirai, Storm, and Martinez put on an exciting match in the comparatively short time they wrestled.
