

If there is one man who can easily take the crown for the most hated character in wrestling, it is Vince McMahon. While many wrestlers have come near to the hate that he got from the crowd, none have crossed it. It might be popular to be the hero and the good guy, but it takes another level of skill to become the best bad guy. Someone who everyone wants to see being beaten.
But McMahon became that guy during the most profitable and mainstream era of wrestling, the Attitude Era. Among heroes like Steve Austin and The Rock, McMahon was always the punching bag. Whoever aligned themselves with the boss was automatically a bad guy as well. But this former women’s champion says that it was because of her uncle that McMahon became the biggest villain in the history of wrestling.

Vince McMahon turned into a major villain in WWE after this heel-ish act
Appearing on the Toronto Sun before her big match at the Elimination Chamber, Natalya was talking about the longevity of her career. While talking about her uncle, the WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart, and his contributions, she claimed, “You might not have ever had an Attitude Era if Bret hadn’t had the courage to stand up for himself against Vince.”
“Which in turn turned Vince into the biggest ‘villain’ in the history of the industry. If Vince wasn’t the biggest heel in the history of the industry, you wouldn’t have had those rivalries like with Stone Cold Steve Austin and Vince McMahon.”

The Montreal Screwjob was one of the most controversial finishes in wrestling history. Not only did everyone start hating McMahon after that event, but WWE also lost one of its best workers in Bret Hart. Also, the two competitors, Hart and Shawn Michaels, were on bad terms with each other. That one call from McMahon changed the entire direction of WWE and wrestling.

But fortunately, all three, Vince, Shawn, and Bret, have made amends and are in a better place. Also, WWE recognized Hart in 2006 as they inducted the Canadian into the Hall of Fame. But after that, they again inducted Hart into the Hall of Fame as part of the Hart Foundation. These days, the wrestling icon has been keeping his head out of wrestling, but he did unveil the AEW World Championship in 2019.
