Twitter Erupts As Randy Orton Wins the ‘Greatest Wrestling Match Ever’ with the Punt Kick

The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever had an impossible bar to live up to. There would be no way Edge and Randy Orton could actually deliver on their match. Yet, their match at Backlash is definitely one for the ages. Amazing chemistry between the two, highly motivated grizzled veterans fighting each other, made for an excellent bout at the pay-per-view event.

The world had not seen a match of such epic proportions for a very long time. It was truly a spectacle of pro-wrestling, with all the fans appreciating the matchup. Here are some of the more notable reactions.

Randy Orton pulled out his infamous punt from his arsenal of moves. There were rumors of the punt being banned due to excessive risk of concussion. but it had the impact it deserved. Edge was pinned after he suffered the direct kick to the head from the Viper.

The two Superstars paid their respect to the legends of the sport during the match. Edge and Orton used the moves and finishers of many of their idols (particularly Eddie Guerrero) in the ring. This was not only recognized but appreciated by fans.

The fan reaction to the breathtaking match was consistent throughout. Although it obviously wasn’t ‘The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever’, it was a brilliant showcase of Orton and Edge’s skills as pro-wrestlers.

The match is done, but the bar will always keep rising. The WWE has shown its fans that it is still capable of putting on an amazing show for audiences.
