WWE has previously released many talented superstars. While some of them did not get the push needed, some failed to capitalize when they got the push. But there have been a few superstars who fulfilled their full potential but failed to stay at the top for long. One such superstar is definitely Alberto Del Rio.

Del Rio had everything. There was a lot of hype around Del Rio following his WWE debut. The hype proved to be real when Del Rio won his first championship. He was considered the next big superstar. And it would be wrong if we say that Del Rio wasn’t successful.

Del Rio won the WWE Championship, World Heavyweight Championship, and the United States Championship twice. Recently, there have been rumors of Del Rio wanting to come back to WWE.

Also, according to the previous inquiry made by Fightful in this situation, it was revealed that the company does not want to put Paige in a situation where she might have to be around Del Rio once again. Paige previously was engaged with Alberto Del Rio in October 2016. However, because of some issues, the pair split up in 2017.

Del Rio’s last appearance on Vince McMahon’s company was on 16th August on SmackDown, where he was defeated by John Cena. Soon after that, Del Rio got suspended for thirty days for his first violation of WWE’s wellness policy.

However, he reportedly wanted to exercise his opt-out clause from his WWE contract as he was unhappy with his position in the company. The former WWE superstar complained about the empty promises made to him following his return in late 2015. On 9th September, the company officially announced the departure of Alberto Del Rio.
