On WWE Raw, Sheamus faced both Ricochet and Humberto Carrillo in back-to-back matches. He first took on the former NXT North American Champion, a man he’s already beaten twice. He looked set to beat him a third time, only for Carrillo to distract him and cost him the match.

Enraged at his defeat, Sheamus faced Carrillo next and aimed to release his frustrations on the youngster. However, Sheamus’ anger got the better of him as he attacked Ricochet, letting his eye off Carrillo. The former NXT superstar tried to interfere once again, but Sheamus wouldn’t allow it, but suffered a second defeat via roll-up.

This means both Ricochet and Humberto Carrillo will receive a championship opportunity, but an unfortunate injury means we’ll have to wait a few weeks. A drop kick by Carrillo busted the Celtic Warrior open, but he persevered and continued to fight. Unfortunately, post match analysis revealed the United States Champion had broken his nose.

This was a similar injury to when John Cena suffered a broken nose at the hands of Seth Rollins in 2015. However, one can expect the Celtic Warrior to return and demolish both Ricochet and Carrillo.

Triple-threat match at Hell in a Cell?

The broken nose writes Sheamus off for at least a week, allowing the United States Championship picture to develop further. However, all signs point towards a potential triple threat match at Hell in a Cell. With Ricochet and Humberto Carrillo picking up wins over the United States Champion, both men must feel worthy of challenging for the belt.

As for Sheamus, his absence can lead to a couple of excellent matches between Humberto Carrillo and Ricochet in the coming weeks. Both men have similar styles and a mini-series between the two could bring some quality wrestling back to Raw.

Both men have suffered two losses each to Sheamus, which means the potential match at Hell in a Cell could be a feud ending match. The Celtic Warrior, if he retains needs a strong feud to head into SummerSlam, while Ricochet and Carrillo can bounce back by competing in the Money in the Bank ladder match.
