WWE is no longer a company that extensively produces sports entertainment/wrestling shows. They’ve got their own tape library, have tons of movies, documentaries, and what not! Another addition to this is WWE’s Most Wanted Treasures on A&E. Today, we look at an excerpt where Mick Foley recreates the debut of Mr. Socko!

Mick Foley becomes Mankind and re-debuts Mr. Socko!

Among the three faces of Foley, Mankind was the one to whom the WWE Universe connected the most. In fact, he connected so much that he even won the WWF Championship to a thunderous pop during the Monday Night Wars. Mankind’s title win on Raw was the first of many episodes where Raw beat Nitro in the ratings.

Anyway, let’s come back to Mr. Socko. In an excerpt from the WWE’s Most Wanted Treasures episode, Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley came together to recreate the iconic scene of Mr. Socko’s WWE TV debut.

Mr. Socko made his debut on the October 5, 1998, episode of Raw. At the time, Mr. McMahon was nursing the wounds he received at the hands of The Brothers of Destruction and Mankind, who was trying to befriend the then WWF Chairman, appeared with lots of gifts for him.

Foley recreated the same segment in the WWE Headquarters almost two decades later. Mrs. Foley’s baby boy put on the Mankind mask, got a lot of balloons, and chocolates and barged into the Chairman’s office. Everyone can see that Mr. McMahon was absolutely stunned at the sight as Mankind went into character and recreated his actions from ’98!

Foley offered chocolates to McMahon, the same way he did in the hospital. To top it all up, Foley then went under McMahon’s table! A white sock with a face popped up and introduced himself as Mr. Socko. This is the exact same way Foley debuted Mr. Socko in the hospital back then, and it was cool to see him do it again.

Once the act was done, Foley came out of the character as Stephanie McMahon explained that they were recreating the historic segment from the October 5, 1998 episode. Mr. McMahon had fear in his eyes, and he immediately asked, “You didn’t bring anybody else, did you? Like Stone Cold.”

Mr. McMahon’s fear is justified. The last time, after Mankind left the hospital room, Stone Cold Steve Austin gave the boss a surprise visit. However, it was not an ordinary visit as the ‘Texas Rattlesnake’ unleashed himself on the boss with a vicious attack. Honestly, it was vicious and funny at the same time.

McMahon being the helpless yet cocky Billionaire boss and Stone Cold kicking his butt back in the day truly brought WWE to great heights. Not to forget, Mankind and Mr. Socko played a crucial role as well. Mick Foley was never an ideal Superstar in Vince McMahon’s eyes, but the Hall of Famer proved the boss wrong.
