Social media has become an integral part of everyone’s lives in the past few decades. People regularly flock to various platforms in order to post or display their opinions. Among many options, Twitter has always been providing fans with the opportunity to discuss any topic of their liking. The wrestling fans are never far behind as the platform does have a sizable community dedicated to the squared circle. So much so that the former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon announced his retirement on Twitter. However, since the takeover by Tesla and Space X founder Elon Musk, Twitter users have become quite apprehensive about the platform.

The business tycoon’s takeover of the platform has come with its own issues. Musk has not only tried to change the business model of Twitter overnight but also has been hard on the employees. Users have been worried about the future of their beloved social media platform and are unsure about its fate.
The Twitter and Elon Musk saga continues
Musk recently issued an ultimatum to his employees that demanded them to commit to a ‘hardcore’ work environment. And since then, Twitter employees have been resigning from the platform in swathes; further increasing the anxiety of the various communities that have been built on the social media juggernaut. The employees have used the hashtag #LoveWhereYouWorked while announcing their departure from the company.

This has worried the users to the extent that #RIPTwitter has also been trending on the platform and is gaining massive momentum. Wrestling fans likewise are also worried that a safe-haven for discussing all things wrestling might be on the verge of extinction. Twitter has been the single point of access to wrestling for many fans, as they rely on the platform to learn about trending topics when it comes to the squared circle.
Fans react to #RIPTwitter trend as Vince McMahon gets a mention
The sports entertainment fans, like many users, came up with interesting thoughts on the fate of the social media platform. While some expressed their relief at the possible shutdown of opinionated fans, others took the matter on a lighter note and shared some memes along the way.
Some fans even strangely brought the former WWE chairman Vince McMahon into the discussion.
Here are some of the top comments.
Is this when Vince buys Twitter and the name on the contract says McMahon, Shane McMahon? #RIPTwitter #wwe #doggy

I really hope @Twitter goes away. Everyone that’s a fake fan of @WWE and @AEW will cry because they will not have anything to do anymore. Please let this happen @elonmusk please destroy this god for sake app #AEW #WWE the wrestling community will be better off without this crap

I’ll say this: a lot less of WWE/AEW tribalism will be going on if Twitter goes down. And for that, I am grateful

What if this app dies and I never do get that @RheaRipley_WWE acknowledgement of my existence? Never mind, Twitter can’t die yet. I have to get one Rhea “like” first. pic.twitter.com/0hmV0btB5g

There is no doubting the fact that Twitter has brought the wrestling community closer than ever. The fans don’t need to look further than the platform to get information or provide their unhinged opinions. The worrying #RIPTwitter trend has the wrestling faithful tensed just like any other user of the platform. While it’s highly unlikely that a sustaining business goes belly up all of a sudden, it’ll be interesting to see what the future has in store for one of the top social media platforms.
