Vince McMahon, the former WWE owner has served the company for more than four decades. During his rule, McMahon used to be quite strict with the superstars. Several wrestlers have come forward and revealed how they faced the wrath of Vince McMahon in the WWE at one point or another.

However, according to the WWE legend Ric Flair, it is nothing in front of what the stars tolerated during the 70s and 80s. Flair reveals how tough Vince McMahon was back then. And, how hostile the locker room environment used to be when he was around.

In the latest episode of his podcast, ‘To be the Man’, the WWE Hall of Fame Ric Flair shares the days of his wrestling career. There, he talked about the time when the wrestlers not only have to face the brutality inside the ring but in the locker rooms as well.

According to Flair, the former owner Vince McMahon used to yell at the wrestlers if the match didn’t go as he expect.

Ric Flair said that he genuinely feels happy for the WWE superstars of the modern era as they don’t have to go through what he went faced back then. He also mentioned that now, there is a much safer environment and Vince McMahon himself pays the medical bills now.

Recalling the old times, Ric Flair said, “I know it was a different time….you know and but you know I gotta.. I got…… In all fairness, I just got to say that I’m actually happy for the guys…. you know they didn’t live the times and they didn’t experience what we did. But there’s a much safer environment…. and Vince pays the bills the medical bills now.”

This is not the first time when a former WWE employee has put the spotlight on how fussy Vince McMahon was when it comes to the WWE.

It didn’t just make the superstars uncomfortable, but the former owner himself had to pay a price for his strive.

The price McMahon paid for his strive for perfection

Former WWE employee Jim Cornette once revealed how Vince McMahon made his health suffer because of his strive for perfection. According to Cornette, McMahon used to yell at the wrestlers and practice the promos repeatedly. It affected his voice a lot and as he got older, his voice became more and more hoarse.

It is true that the wrestlers from the 70s and 80s era have endured Vince McMahon’s wrath to a greater extent, since he was setting up his wrestling empire and was quite ruthless.

Now, Vince McMahon has lowered his burden and usually just looks after the minor work. And when it comes to interacting with the superstars regarding creative work, then as Flair says, stars are very lucky that Triple H has taken over this responsibility.
