Vince McMahon Put His Life on the Line to Expand WWE: “If You Could Knock Off a President of United States, Then I’m Easy to Get”

Vince McMahon was the first one who pushed the limits of pro-wrestling. His efforts took WWE and the overall pro-wrestling business.

While trying to push the pro-wrestling boundaries, McMahon made quite a few rivals. Some of them were rather stuck in the common methods to even open their minds for McMahon’s vision for the industry.

During his appearance on The Pat McAfee show, Vince McMahon spoke about the death threats he received after he took over WWE. Now, yes, he is an ambitious man. But, to put his life on the line for his business? That’s passion.

Vince McMahon said – “I don’t know how many different rivers I was supposed to be at the bottom of. You know, death threats are what they are. I always felt like if you could knock off a President of United States, then I’m easy to get. Never had a bodyguard and all that stuff. In those days, it was like when you, from their standpoint, invaded their territory, it was like okay it’s not just fighting words.” 

However, Vince McMahon did not budge from his dreams. He kept moving forward and ultimately changed the face of the game!

Vince McMahon didn’t have enough money when he purchased WWE

During the same conversation with Pat McAfee, The Big Man revealed that when he purchased WWF [WWE] from his father, he did not have enough money. The idea was that he would make a down payment, and then pay off in a fixed schedule. If he wasn’t able to live up to the payment schedule, he’d have to return the company and let them keep the money.

However, with a twist of fate, hard work, and passion, McMahon managed to pull off the impossible. He purchased WWE, made the payments, and became the man who changed the face of pro-wrestling.

Even today, wrestling promotions use elements of Vince McMahon’s business model, if not the whole of it. He managed to do something that promotions believed was impossible.

It seems as though Vince McMahon did not mind the death threats, as long as he chased his dreams and didn’t stop at any obstacle!
