Is Vince McMahon unhappy with the exit?

Speculations suggest that McMahon was initially unhappy with the former champion’s exit. Becky was one star loved by fans owing to her character and personality. Her 498-day reign as RAW Women’s Champion was unprecedented and historic, cementing her as one of the greatest stars to hold a belt in the WWE.

‘The Man’ had been the cornerstone of the women’s division since her bout in WrestleMania 35, where she won her title. The matchup, involving Ronda Rousey, Charlotte Flair, and Becky was the first all-woman main event in WrestleMania history. Her strong in-ring character, marketability as a star, and fighting ability, undoubtedly played into making this historic feat possible. Her absence from regular programming for an extended period would definitely hurt the WWE and its reach. The recent pandemic has also resulted in a huge fall in the ratings and popularity of the WWE.

Therefore, it is likely that Vince McMahon was initially unhappy with the champion’s decision.

Consequences for jumping ship

McMahon has previously publicly reprimanded stars for not being present at this time of need for the WWE. Other stars who stopped appearing in WWE programming include Sami Zayn and Roman Reigns. Reigns opted out of WrestleMania to take care of his newborn twins,  something that was received harshly by the WWE. Though WWE is fine with the stars’ decisions to take precautions against COVID-19, they serve harsh punishments to the Superstars who do so. The WWE cut Reigns out of all promotional material and forced Zayn to vacate his Inter-Continental Championship.

“She’s rewritten the book on what it means to be a champion

However, McMahon has been very supportive of The Man’s decision to leave WWE temporarily. He had recently taken to Twitter to congratulate the champion, showering her with thanks and praises. The former Women’s Champion will surely be missed, and her return is much awaited.
