Vince Russo Trashes WWE, Reveals Why WWE Doesn’t Want to Make Stars Like John Cena and the Rock Again

Despite being the biggest pro wrestling company in the world, WWE has had many complaints from the fans. One of the lingering ones includes that WWE does not have a proper ‘star’ in their itinerary. Legendary WWE writer Vince Russo finally has some explanations for it.
Russo is credited with ushering in the Attitude Era, with the help of his realistic ‘Crash TV.’ During his time, WWE had multiple franchise players like Steve Austin, The Rock, Shawn Michaels, Triple H among others.

However, nowadays there might be a plethora of superstars, but no one has the same gravity as the ones mentioned above. Russo thinks WWE has made a conscious decision to not produce superstars anymore.
He started the conversation in the ‘It’s My House‘ podcast with an anecdote. According to him, Triple H basically told Ryback that “no talent is going to be bigger than the WWE ever again” a few years ago.
“Because what happens is when you have a talent that becomes bigger than the WWE–going back to control, [Vince McMahon] loses that control,” Russo theorized. “He lost control with Cena, Austin, Rock, Hogan, he loses that control. So now, Triple H is flat out saying, ‘There’s never ever going to be another superstar bigger than the company again.’”
This could be the reason WWE keeps acquiring, pushing, and releasing talents. This year, WWE has had four releases due to budget cuts. They have released Braun Strowman, Mickie James, Andrade, Ruby Riott, Aleister Black, The IIconics, Murphy among many.

Vince Russo thinks WWE is manufacturing “replaceable talents”
To combat the risk of bigger-than-life superstars, WWE has come up with a plan. They are making “replaceable” stars so that WWE can dispose of them if things go south.
“They have a factory where they’re making wrestlers,” Russo claimed. “And these guys, they go in from the independent circuit and they’re going through this factory. And what they’re becoming are replaceable talents.”

“So okay, this guy does something we don’t like, does something on social media, doesn’t get a gimmick over, you’ve got 1000 reasons to get him out and bring the next guy in. They’re purposely not doing it (making stars).”
According to Russo, another reason could be that WWE will sell the company soon. That’s why they are getting rid of the extra weight to make the company look as profitable as possible.
