Almost everyone is familiar with CM Punk and the problems he has been stuck in for the past couple of months. The star who was on top of the AEW roster, was released from the promotion due to backstage altercations. Even if that is the case, nobody could deny the fact that he is indeed a ‘cult of personality’.
While many fans are hopefully waiting for his return to WWE, something unexpected happened in Chicago this weekend and it reminded the internet of CM Punk.

CM Punk remembered in Chicago
At the latest ice hockey match of the Chicago Wolves, a familiar tune started to play. The stadium played CM Punk’s entry song ‘Cult of Personality’. It is a song by the American rock band ‘Living Colour’ and was released in 1988. It was already a big hit back then and even won a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance at the 32nd Annual Grammy Awards. Its music video won the MTV Video Music Award for Best Group Video and the MTV Video Music Award for Best New Artist.
However, pro-wrestling fans often associate the song with Punk due to his epic entrances. Punk’s fans from his hometown immediately recognized this song during the ice hockey match and one fan even shouted, “It’s clobberin’ time” which happens to be Punk’s catchphrase.
During his time at the Ring of Honor, Punk used this song as his theme. This reportedly helped make the song popular. Later at WWE, his entry song was ‘This Fire Burns’. However, during his last couple of years at the promotion, he started using his old song once again. What happened at the stadium did nothing but add fuel to the fire, as it might make the speculations of his return even more strong.

Since his departure from AEW, fans have been speculating about the star’s next workplace. While there are many companies where he might start working, his old stomping ground might be on the top of the list.

Will CM Punk return to WWE?
Since his release from AEW, Punk has made a couple of appearances at the Caged Fight Fury Championship. He was not in the cage but instead was a part of the commentary team. While discussing with fellow commentators the need to have a show for breaking down the events that had happened during the fight, he was interrupted and asked if it was because he had plenty of time on his hands now. To this, Punk laughed and replied by saying that he had two months of spare time.

This was enough to start the speculations as the comment was made almost two months before the upcoming WWE Premium Live Event, Survivor Series. On top of that, this year, the event will be held in Chicago, Illinois. Hardcore Punk and WWE fans are familiar that Chicago is his hometown. So his making an appearance might not be a far-fetched dream.
