When your team loses, it’s always a frustrating moment. It seems like Shawn Michaels realized this during his WWE days and invented the perfect gesture to convey that emotion.
Now, that gesture has become quite famous among all types of sports, even college basketball. In fact, it’s not just famous among the players, but also coaches. A perfect example of this is when a college basketball coach did the gesture, and it was captured on camera.

Did he receive backlash for it? Most probably not considering coaches are allowed to vent during games. Let’s face it, there is immense pressure on them as well.
Will Shawn Michaels be happy that his invention has lived through the test of time? Definitely!
Shawn Michaels invented the gesture right before his heel turn
Back in July 1997, Michaels did the crotch chop gesture for the first time during a Raw is War segment. At this point, he hadn’t turned heel yet. However, this segment was filmed in Nova Scotia, Canada. During this time, he was in a feud with Bret Hart, and automatically, the Canadian fans considered Michaels to be the ‘bad guy’.
However, the gesture picked up pace when Triple H started using it alongside Michaels in their D-Generation X entrance. They would use it four times during the entrance. Initially, Vince McMahon was against the idea of Triple H and Shawn Michaels using the gesture, but somehow he was convinced.
On the other hand, Michaels used the term ‘s*ck it’ during his feud with Bret Hart. However, it was on another episode of Raw is War in October 1997.
Of course, Bret Hart’s fans detested Michaels for this, but the D-Generation X fans found something they absolutely loved.
