The former NXT superstar brought a note with him, supposedly written and signed by the Viper. Instead of granting Riddle the Viper’s spot, Pearce and Deville booked a battle royal. The winner would take Orton’s spot in the main event.

The likes of Jinder Mahal, Cedric Alexander, Damian Priest and Jeff Hardy put on strong performances, and looked good enough to warrant a place in the MITB ladder match. However, Riddle blazed past them to retain Orton’s spot and face McIntyre and AJ Styles later in the show.

Priest and Riddle put on an excellent closing battle with the former NXT North American Champion coming close to tossing the Bro out. Riddle locked in the Bromission on Priest as he hung onto the ropes, but fought back, only to walk into a triangle choke. At one point, Riddle kneed Priest in the face and attempted Orton’s DDT, but Priest luckily managed to block it.

The Original Bro connected with a running bicycle knee to eliminate Priest, but his celebration takes home the headline. He made the ring crew play Randy Orton’s music, and he even posed on the turnbuckle like his slithery teammate.

Why was Randy Orton upset with his teammate?

In the past couple of weeks, the friendship between Riddle and Randy Orton has significantly withered. Orton felt Riddle cost him a spot in the MITB ladder match by interfering during his qualifying match against John Morrison. After that, Orton’s been giving his teammate the silent treatment.

Riddle’s conquest tonight seems like an attempt to win back Orton’s faith and friendship. They have been the most entertaining part of Raw since WrestleMania, and they could even become Raw Tag Team Champions by SummerSlam. However, their singles career coming in the way of achieving tag team success is an amazing backstory.

With tonight’s brilliant performance, has the OG Bro mended his friendship with the Viper? If these two superstars meet in the MITB ladder match, who will strike first- Orton, a former MITB winner or Riddle, the future of WWE?
