All four of them battled for a while, but it came down to Stone Cold and Taker. Austin would have secured the victory, but two of Taker’s disciples arrived and attacked Mankind and Austin. This led to a DQ victory for Austin’s team.
Following this, Bossman (Undertaker’s disciple) handcuffed Mankind to the top rope while ‘The Phenom’ dragged Austin across the ramp and pinned him to a cross. The cross looked similar to ‘The Deadman’s’ symbol.
In fact, the announcers made it a point to refer to it as The Undertaker’s symbol to avoid any controversies. However, even to this date, the crucifixion of Austin is considered as one of the most controversial moves by WWE.
The Undertaker tried to embalm Stone Cold
Another moment from their rivalry which took the audience by shock was when Taker and Heyman tried to embalm Austin. A segment showed Paul Heyman and The Undertaker carrying an unconscious Austin to a remote house where they tried to embalm him.
Taker had almost succeeded, but Kane interrupted the situation and saved Austin. This led to the audience cheering for Kane while he attacked Taker and saved Austin.
