

Hulk Hogan may be the greatest wrestler in the wrestling industry, but he isn’t without his flaws. While everyone has pointed out his flaws in the ring, whenever a conversation about Hogan begins, very few talk about his in-ring performance.

Compared to the likes of today’s wrestlers, Hogan’s style and move set is nothing. But even if you were to compare him to the wrestlers of yore, The Undertaker and Randy Savage, and Ricky Steamboat are prime examples of wrestlers with varied wrestling styles. But aside from that, Eric Bischoff revealed that one quality that raised him above the rest in any promotion.
Eric Bischoff talked about Hulk Hogan’s crowd work
During the Outside the Ring interview, Eric Bischoff revealed, “Hulk Hogan, you know, Hulk has a reputation and a narrative because he’s been in the business so long. And, you know, a lot of people would be critical of his in-ring wrestling ability, but Hulk knew how to manipulate the audience in a way that got the reaction and the emotion from the audience in a way that very few people have, to this day. Hulk was right up there, too.”

“And I know that sounds. It will sound funny to today’s listeners and audience who’ve never worked with Hulk. Who didn’t really see what Hulk could do with the crowd, how he could get them in the palm of his hand and manipulate and get the emotion out of them that made the show so exciting from a live perspective in a venue as well as how it registered on television and engaged the audience as well.”
Hulk Hogan and the Hulkamania era
Leading an entire generation of wrestlers on your back isn’t easy and doing it for 8 consecutive years is even harder, but the man in red and yellow did it. Main eventing 8 out of the first 9 WrestleManias, Hulk Hogan was running wild in the ’80s and ’90s. Everyone ate up his ‘Say your prayers, Take your vitamins and Training’ slogan.

His charisma outlived everyone from his generation. And many have credited him to be called the safest wrestler to work with. Also, a body slam and a leg drop consisted made up most of his move set. But his mic skills were impeccable.
