The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment had his own battles while climbing the ladder to success. The constant competition from fellow wrestlers and the race to be on top is hard. Dwayne Johnson also had to face a lot of enviousness while he was making his shift to Hollywood.

Bruce Prichard, the current executive director of SmackDown and Raw, shared the locker room conversation that goes backstage. Prichard has been with the WWE for more than three decades and worked in diverse roles. On his podcast, Something To Wrestle With Bruce Prichard, he talked about the views of other wrestlers when The Rock was making the shift from wrestling to movies.

“I do know that there were a lot of guys that looked at Rock as he’s deserting us. He’s gone on to make movies. We’re still staying here and we’re trying to make this work. That’s just natural in any business when someone goes on and is successful and in another genre, well f**k  him. So I think that still exists to this day.” said Prichard.

It is natural for people in show business to take the first shot they get to their fame, according to Prichard.

Wrestlers moving to Hollywood

It’s not a new trend for the pro wrestling superstars to switch their genres and try out for Hollywood. In Prichard’s podcast, his co-host Conard Thompson asked him about this shift and how it affects the company. And, does Vince McMahon do something to stop his superstars from leaving the company? Prichard explained the process of how the show business works.

“It’s a double-edged sword because if you do that then they are only yours they’re only going to get so big you have to grow from the outside in and you want your stars to be larger than life so that everybody else in entertainment wants them. So when they go out and they do other things, whether it is movies or television shows, everything else that they do reflects back on the company. It’s good for the company.”

Prichard stated that even after the shift of a superstar to another industry, they are still related to the product. The ring names of the stars are tagged with them forever because they got fame from it.
