With WrestleMania XL just over a week away, WWE decided to announce a brand new tournament. While the pilot was tested out in December of 2023, the full show will be coming very soon. Titled WWE Speed, the show is set to deliver its namesake in entertainment. Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming show.

WWE took to X to announce the release date for its upcoming show, WWE Speed. In the post, WWE mentioned, “Every second counts.” Featuring Corey Graves, the video laid down the details for the new show. Set to release just 2 days before WrestleMania XL, WWE Speed will air on April 3. And where can wrestling fans watch the show? On X.

Yes, the show is set to debut on Elon Musk’s platform, X. This is because this isn’t like RAW, SmackDown, or NXT. The matches here will be only three minutes long. Moreover, the winner of this tournament will be crowned as the WWE Speed Champion. So, what are the rules?

As of now, the only information the WWE has provided is that the matches will be fast and adrenaline-packed. This means eliminating your opponent within the time period, which is all that matters. With the announcement made on 27/03/2024, more information will be soon to come. Will this factor into WrestleMania XL? WWE’s two-year deal with X for WWE Speed and more details

In February 2024, Alex Weprin of The Hollywood Reporter stated that X and WWE signed a two-year deal for WWE Speed. The show is set to be a weekly video series with 52 weeks of content per year. The deal also states the show will have stars from WWE RAW, SmackDown, and NXT.

The pilot of the show was aired during the December 15 episode of SmackDown and featured talent from both SmackDown and NXT. The matches had a five-minute timer, with Nathan Frazer of NXT beating Bronson Reed and Axiom of NXT losing to Cedric Alexander. The commentary team featured Corey Graves and Kevin Patrick.
