Ever since he went on a wrestling hiatus after WrestleMania XL, Dwayne Johnson has been in the headlines regarding all of his upcoming Hollywood projects. He recently signed on for a series that puts him between the two worlds of pro wrestling and entertainment. This is for the upcoming docuseries regarding WCW that is currently under production.

The docuseries is named ‘Who Killed WCW?’ As the title suggests, the focus of the show will be to target the rise and downfall of WCW as a promotion. Founded by Ted Turner in 1988, WWE eventually acquired the company and introduced it as its new brand. However, because of unexplored circumstances, this business move failed. Seven Bucks Production is producing the docuseries for Vice TV which will premiere on June 4th. Fans interested in watching it will get to explore the management challenges, creative decisions, and intense competition that spruced up during the infamous Monday Night Wars.

Johnson’s production house had signed to co-produce another documentary regarding a sports celebrity and bringing his unseen story to the world.

Dwayne Johnson co-produced a documentary on acclaimed bodybuilding figure Phillip Heath

The documentary in question is Breaking Olympia: The Phil Heath Story. As the title suggests, the entertainment project was focused on telling the story behind Phillip Heath’s success and challenges in the bodybuilding sport. Having equaled Arnold Schwarzenegger in winning the Mr. Olympia title seven times in a row, Heath’s story had several plot points that were undiscovered from the fans’ perspective.

With the help of Seven Bucks Productions, the world can explore the sides of his story that they hadn’t known before. It was released on March 25, 2024. So, there’s a possibility that it worked as a portfolio to inspire the production house to make yet another documentary. But this time around, they have chosen to make a series out of it and thoroughly explore what went wrong with WCW.
