After months of speculation about its new home, WWE RAW has reportedly found its future platform on Netflix. It also ended the bidding war between major players like Warner Bros, Disney, and Amazon as Netflix emerged victorious from nowhere. The announcement was made on January 23rd on social media where WWE revealed the details of the new deal. So, let’s look into the reasons why Netflix is the best place for WWE in the future.

1. Streaming is the future: Netflix has proven that streaming is the future of TV. Hence, cable TV networks are slowly shifting to streaming as well. The list includes popular cable networks like ESPN, FOX, HBO Max, and Paramount+. Thus, shifting to esteemed streaming platforms like Netflix will help WWE transition into the future of content consumption.

2. Netflix, the iron fist of streaming: Netflix is one of the pioneers of streaming services in the world alongside RealNetworks. It is a globally renowned service platform alongside the likes of HBO Max and Amazon Prime.

3. Huge subscriber base: Netflix will have a paid subscriber base of nearly 250 million by the end of 2023, as per Statista. Most of the subscribers were from the EMEA market accounting for 83 million, while the US market provides access to nearly 77.3 million paid subscribers.

4. Strategic advantage: Netflix is looking forward to transitioning into the live-sports domain and WWE RAW provides regular live content every week, while transitioning into the online streaming domain will be a good move for WWE too, who were working with TV networks till now.

Financial gain for Vince McMahon and Co. at TKO

As per the reports, RAW will begin to air on Netflix from the onset of 2025. The deal is valued at $5 Billion for 10 years, which is a huge jump from their previous deal with the USA network of $1.4 billion for 5 years. In return, Netflix will also produce special documentaries for WWE. The deal also helps WWE fetch more money for SmackDown as the Blue brand will move to the USA network, from October onwards. The new is worth $1.4 Billion, a 40% increment over the previous deal.
