It looks like CM Punk still has some grudges with the WWE fandom. Fans are aware of how CM Punk claims Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson took his WrestleMania spot a decade ago. Punk had stated in the past that it was one of the reasons why he decided to walk out of the company back in 2014. Now. history is being repeated, with Cody Rhodes being in a similar spot in which Punk was a decade ago. While Rhodes has been receiving massive support from fans, it looks like the Second City Saints have some words for his fans.

CM Punk calls out fans

At the WrestleMania 40 Kickoff Press Conference, CM Punk was present at the commentator table along with Pat McAfee, Michael Cole, and Big E. The arena was full of chants, waiting to see the American Nightmare. Talking about the support by fans over the internet and in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Punk said, “Where were you in 2013?”

The comment was something that did not have any ill faith behind it as Punk was seen telling Rhodes to finish his story after he got injured at the 2024 Royal Rumble. At this year’s Rumble, Punk was at the receiving end of a DDT by Drew McIntyre.

While the former AEW star was able to throw McIntyre out of the ring, he ended up tearing his triceps. He has been advised to not partake in action and has recently undergone surgery.

The Slap

The slap has to be one of the most talked about incidents from the whole press conference. Some lines were crossed when Roman Reigns stated that Rhodes should back off now. According to him, Rhodes is a closed chapter of his life.  He also stated that if Rhodes keeps on doing so, he will end up disappointing his father, Dusty Rhodes. The American Nightmare, who wants to finish his story to honor his father star was not going to keep quiet after the remark.

Rhodes said that if Johnson and Reigns’s grandfather, the High Chief Peter Maivia would have been alive today, he would have been disappointed in Reigns. This was enough to make Johnson lose his calm. He stated that if someone comments on his bloodline, they are pointing fingers at him. Johnson also made it clear that he has a problem with Rhodes now and he slapped him hard after that. What was your favorite moment from the press conference? Do you think CM Punk would have received similar support from fans?

One take at a time

For me pro wrestling has two things that I like the most, storytelling and fighting. Let?s just say movies are failing to keep me entertained in those departments. I grew up watching WWF and not WWE and any hardcore fan will agree that the two are not the same, but I love both iterations.
