However, Austin finally had to leave the company when he injured his neck. After taking a break, he reached out for work and realized the bitter truth – Vince McMahon was hiding opportunities from him. During a conversation, Stone Cold Steve Austin revealed that he learned about those calls after leaving WWE.

“When I came out to Los Angeles, I started taking some meetings and I would get time after time ‘you know, we were trying to get hold of you back when you were with the WWF [WWE] because we wanted you’ in this or that or whatever. I was pulling the wagon. So, if you got a lead horse pulling the wagon, you don’t want your lead horse going off and doing what you were able to do.”
While Vince McMahon had a good reason to not lose him to someone else, maybe passing on the message could have helped The Texas Rattlesnake.
Stone Cold Steve Austin played an iconic role during The Attitude Era
Fans usually credit The Texas Rattlesnake for being the Superstar who pulled the company forward during The Attitude Era. He changed the game when he played the bad guy, but the audience loved him.

Moreover, his storyline against Vince McMahon and disregarding everything management and The Authority wanted him to do really popped the crowd. Everyone loved watching Stone Cold Steve Austin create a character that couldn’t be mastered by everyone.

Interestingly, his wife coined the name Stone Cold. She was referring to a hot beverage that had turned cold, but Steve Austin found the name that would go on to become one of the most popular names in WWE history.
