The American Nightmare’s presence thrilled some fans of the developmental brand. Many speculated that his major announcement might involve resurrecting the long-missed Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Remarkably, this tribute tournament hasn’t graced the WWE NXT stage since 2022, leaving many eager for its return. Dusty Rhodes, the legendary wrestling figure, passed away in 2015. The tournament has taken place on a semi-regular basis since the year of the WWE icon’s passing.

In 2023, the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic has not taken place. However, Cody Rhodes’ announcement raises hopes for its return. Fans fondly remember its last run on March 22, 2022, for the thrilling tag team action it delivered in NXT. Now in a bold move, AEW Dynamite is shifting its air date to Tuesday, October 10, going head-to-head with WWE programming.
