WWE Finishes Taping Huge Title Fight For Smackdown

The WWE Intercontinental championship tournament is finally reaching its conclusion. Ever since Sami Zayn was stripped of the coveted title, superstars on Smackdown Live had been vying for the belt. After running through their competition, enticed Daniel Bryan will meet each other in the finals of the tournament.

The match will air on Smackdown after two weeks on June 12. However, as per Sean Ross Sap of Fightful select, the match has already been recorded by the WWE. They’ll just be airing it later for storyline reasons.

Not just that, it’s being reported that the match was unbelievable good. In fact, the NXT Performance Center crowd couldn’t help but marvel at its brilliance. That’s certainly some good word of mouth before the match eventually makes it way to our screens.

However, fans who are aware of the in-ring skills of both Bryan and AJ wouldn’t be surprised by this. The two have already put up some crackers against each other in the past. This would just be another installment in their storied rivalry.

The classic rivalry between AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan

The two obviously have a storied history from their erstwhile promotion Ring of Honor. They were actually the flagbearers of the generation that put the purist wrestling promotion on the map.

However, they constructed a different history for themselves in the World Wrestling Entertainment. Their feud first started as one of mutual respect between two wrestlers who were aware of each other’s greatness. While that was certainly a good sell for some matches, an extended rivalry required one of them to turn heel.

As Bryan had recently returned from his retirement, everyone expected Styles to go the negative way. However, in a shocking twist of events, Daniel shocked everyone by using the low blow on AJ and turning heel. This would also give rise to his “New Daniel Bryan” character that saw a moderate degree of success and even gave him a reign with the WWE Championship.

While fans certainly criticized WWE of diluting their rivalry by booking them a lot against each other, fans of technical wrestling were eating it up. That’s why a match after a long time wouldn’t do anyone harm. We are certainly waiting for this cracker of a wrestling contest.
