The way Vince McMahon runs WWE is extremely different from how Vince Sr. did it. While both of them had the same idea to promote pro-wrestling, their styles differed from one another massively.

During a conversation with Conrad Thompson, WWE Legend Bruce Prichard gave an insight into how the two McMahons conducted business.

So, when Iron Sheik defeated Backlund, and finally Hogan defeated Sheik, the dynamics changed massively. Hogan became the man who could draw money but wasn’t necessarily perceived as a pro-wrestler. He was all entertainment.

“Definitely, because, I think that it went from the old school of having a champion. It sounds silly in today’s business but having a champion that could hook you if he wanted to having a champion that was, in a lot of people’s opinion, all show. And, Hogan was that entertainment champion. He was larger than life and he broke away from that mood of Bruno Sammartino and Bob Backlund that Vince Sr. had created there in New York for so many years.”

Today, WWE’s business model is completely different from that of how it used to be. Undoubtedly, it worked out extremely well for WWE in the long run.

Vince McMahon was the first to push pro-wrestling territories

Before The Big Man took over, pro-wrestling promotions stayed within a certain territory. The idea was to have one promotion cater to the audience of their territory.

However, when Vince McMahon took over, he didn’t want to stay limited to a certain territory. He wanted to take WWE’s product to the next level and cater to the audience throughout the nation.

When he first took on this initiative, there was much backlash from the other promotions. However, he remained persistent and continued to move forward with his vision.

Undoubtedly, what he did helped several promotions to build their way out of a particular territory and cater to everyone across.

Currently, WWE is the biggest platform for sports entertainment that ensures the product reaches fans worldwide and not just within the USA.

Considering this vast difference, there is bound to be a major gap between the business models of the two McMahons.
