Stone Cold Steve Austin made a significant impact in WWE with his wrestling style and attitude. Over the years, many superstars look at him as their role model.

The Texas Rattlesnake is one of the toughest wrestlers from the Attitude Era. But Austin’s legacy left a unique impression in the wrestling world. His return from the injury and being the top guy of the company led him to huge success.

Recently, WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle mentioned his overall Royal Rumble experience. Moreover, he mentioned how Stone Cold Steve Austin and Angle fought with injuries.

In the recent episode of the Kurt Angle Show, Angle recalled his match with Austin after Austin’s return from the neck injury. He mentioned how he delivered 10 suplexes to Austin. Despite that, Austin had faith in him and continued to take it.

He said, “Well, obviously, he had a lot of confidence in me. Steve’s a bada**. I mean, he’s not gonna say no to too much of the anything. The only thing he wouldn’t take is a pile driver because of what happened with him and Owen Hart a few years back. But Austin, he was always game for whatever you want to do. He was really cool about it.”

Stone Cold Steve Austin breaks his neck

In 1997, Stone Cold Steve Austin battled Owen Hart in an Intercontinental title match. Both men exchanged tremendous blows in the match.

The match was pretty intense where Austin broke his neck after receiving a pile driver from Owen Hart. After being hit by the pile driver, Austin wasn’t able to move. During an interview, he mentioned how he struggled to even move his body. “Man, I’m laying there, and now the pain’s starting to set in. I couldn’t use my hands yet, but I could turn over and use my forearms to crawl. It took me a long time to straighten my knees.”

Although Austin won the match with a roll-up pin, it almost ended up his career. However, he returned the same year at Survivor Series to battle Owen Hart once again for the Intercontinental Championship. Austin’s neck injury is one of the worst injuries in WWE history.
